Wildlife Conservation Society
Let your curiosity run wild at WCS Summer Camp!
Unforgettable summer adventures start here! Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) day camps offer something for young explorers of all ages. Campers explore nature, learn about conservation, and get up close to animals—all right here in New York City. WCS offers summer camp programming at all five parks: Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and New York Aquarium.
Discover activities and themes that help campers of all ages relate to the world around them. With 265 acres, the Bronx Zoo is home to several ecosystems and dozens of animal exhibits to explore. Campers at the Bronx Zoo get hands-on with everything from crafting and creative problem-solving to field research and immersive conservation classes. Campers at the Queens Zoo get to create and learn right near the bustling barnyard area and explore the zoo to see animals found across the Americas, from the Canadian Lynx to the Andean Bear. Manhattan campers get a hands-on introduction to animals at the Central Park Zoo, from the Tropic Zone to the Polar Circle. There are even programs designed around zoo-themed games for campers who love a little friendly competition!
Brooklyn’s wildest summer camps are at the Prospect Park Zoo and the New York Aquarium. Prospect Park Zoo campers are equipped with tools to connect with the world around them, whether they’re learning about conservation in the classroom or walking alongside wildlife on the Discovery Trail. The New York Aquarium is the perfect place for aspiring oceanographers and aquatic animal lovers! Get to know marine mammals and interesting invertebrates in creative classes. Looking for hands-on fun? Campers get up close to marine habitats at the Playquarium exhibit and even on the beach at Coney Island.
Does your child dream of becoming a zookeeper, vet, marine biologist, or ecological explorer? WCS has a camp program for that! Campers are inspired to connect with the world around them—both globally and locally—through activities in and out of the classroom. Dedicated time for campers to explore the outdoors is built into each program, whether that’s birdwatching on tree-lined trails at the zoo or beachcombing outside the aquarium.
WCS camps foster a welcoming, inclusive, and safe camp experience for all. Camps are led by year-round staff who know the park and its animals. Many caregivers are pleasantly surprised to learn that our year-round instructional staff not only develop age-appropriate curriculum, but also facilitate each session. At WCS camps, we keep you connected. From the welcome orientation to caregiver letters, caregiver communication is a priority. Additionally, many of our parks offer camp blogs with daily updates and closing ceremonies.
Recognized as industry leaders, the WCS Education Department has engaged generations of visitors and was the first of its kind to offer zoo camps. WCS continues to provide award-winning programming to families.
