Trail Blazers
Did you know that Trail Blazers is one of the oldest summer camp programs in the United States and the first to focus on environmental education?
Since our inception in 1887 as Life’s Fresh Air Camp, our programs have been where children and teens go outside to grow within. As we kick off our 137th summer, we invite your camper to come outside and join us. Get ready for a safe, fun, memorable, and screen-free summer filled with laughing, connecting, and learning!
There is an adventure for everyone at our American Camp Association accredited Day Camp and Overnight Camp programs:
At Prospect Park Day Camp (Grades PreK-5), we invite you to join us in Brooklyn’s Backyard for hands-on environmental science learning and play. There are drop-off locations on both sides of the park to make it easy for your busy family.
In partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, we’ll explore and learn all about Brooklyn’s unique waterfront and urban sustainability at Brooklyn Bridge Day Camp (Grades K-5).
Manhattan families can join us at Morningside Park Day Camp (Grades K-5), as we explore uptown’s flora and fauna in partnership with Morningside Park Conservancy.
Our week-long Mini Overnight Camp (Grades 1-3) is perfect for first-time overnight campers. Our 1000-acre Mashipacong Estate in Sussex County, NJ can’t wait for their first hikes and canoe trips across Lake Mashipacong! (Transportation is provided for all overnight programs.)
Adventure Overnight Camp (Grades 1-10) awaits at Mashipacong Estate! After a full day of hiking, high-ropes, swimming, and more, we’ll fall asleep under the stars in a canvas tent, for a truly rustic experience. The highlight is the Vagabond: our multi-day backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail or Delaware River. Older campers are invited to build their skills at the Biking Intensive, Canoeing Intensive, or Leaders-in-Training sessions.
For a farm-to-fork experience, join us at Farmstead Overnight Camp (Grades 3-6), in partnership with Stony Creek Farmstead. We’ll learn to cook, harvest vegetables, collect eggs, and care for the pigs, cows, and chickens. Of course there will be s’mores - it is camp, after all.
At Trail Blazers, we believe summer camp can be a safe space for all and we welcome all campers: boys, girls, and gender non-conforming. Overnight camp sleeping arrangements are based on campers’ preferred gender identity.
We also believe that all children deserve summer camp. Did you know that in addition to being one of the oldest camp programs, Trail Blazers is also a 501c3 nonprofit? We work to secure funding so that summer camp can be affordable for your family.
Our staff can’t wait to meet your camper his summer! Registration is ALREADY open, so secure their spot today.
Not sure whether your camper is ready? Camp can be a big deal for first timers. Give us a try at Spring Break Day Camp (https://trailblazers.org/break) April 6-14 (Grades K-5).
We also invite your family to join us for our monthly Virtual Info Sessions, where Camp Directors Sage (Day) and Dahlia (Overnight) will answer your questions! To RSVP for the next session, click here (https://tinyurl.com/prospectparkandbkbridgepark) for Prospect Park & Brooklyn Bridge Park Day Camps, here (https://tinyurl.com/morningside-park) for Morningside Park Day Camp, and here for Overnight Camp (https://tinyurl.com/nj-overnight-camp).
