Avenues the World School
Avenues is an inclusive and innovative learning community, anchored by a mission to empower students to be “architects of lives that transcend the ordinary.” Our academic program combines unparalleled rigor and depth with opportunities for every student to discover and pursue their passions, supported by a world-class, diverse faculty. Avenues is defining a new type of school—a global school—that surpasses today’s expectations to nurture future thought leaders and innovators from all backgrounds.
Avenues New York, located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, opened in 2012 and offers a transformative education from toddler through 12th grade. Our Early Learning Center (ELC) is designed for our youngest learners, focusing on language immersion in Mandarin or Spanish, learning through play, and fostering healthy habits to develop self-regulation and independence. The Lower Division (grades 1-5) emphasizes language immersion, inquiry-oriented learning, and interdisciplinary study, promoting creative thinking and problem-solving.
In the middle grades (grades 6–8), students engage in a variety of subjects, including math, humanities, arts, science, and World Course, which emphasizes critical thinking and historical research skills. They participate in project-based learning that encourages collaboration and communication. The arts program offers options in visual arts, instrumental, and singing, fostering creativity and self-expression.
The upper grades (grades 9–12) continue this robust educational journey, while adding advanced pathways, electives, and signature programs that allow for the pursuit of one’s passions. Students are prepared for college and beyond, with a distinctive array of universities around the world recognizing their achievements.
Avenues also boasts a vibrant community and student life, with over 80 student-led clubs, a comprehensive athletics and arts program, and the signature Dean’s Program, which supports student development in academics, social skills, and emotional well-being.
